Legacy Crown Basketball Association

Rules & Regulations

The LCBA competition framework includes signature game rules, a 40-game staggered season, Final Target overtime, a legal crossover standard, conference competition and separate women’s and men’s postseason races.

LCBA Signature Competition Rules

What Makes The Game Different

These rules are part of the LCBA game identity and are not optional team variations.

4-Point Rule

Final 60 Seconds Of Every Quarter

A successful field goal from the designated LCBA 4-point area during the final 60 seconds of any quarter is worth four points.

  • Applies in the final 60 seconds of each quarter
  • Shot must originate from the designated 4-point area
  • 4-point attempts are automatically reviewable for foot placement, timing and release

Final Target OT

No Traditional Timed Overtime

When regulation ends tied, LCBA uses a target-score finish instead of a traditional overtime clock.

  • Regular season and Rivalry 8: tied score + 7 points
  • Playoffs and LCBA Finals: tied score + 10 points
  • Overtime begins with a center jump
  • Each team receives one additional timeout
  • Fourth-quarter team fouls carry into Final Target OT

Crossover Standard

Freedom Of Movement • Continuous Dribble

LCBA protects legal creative ball handling. A crossover, hesitation, in-and-out or similar move is legal when the ball remains in continuous dribbling motion.

  • Brief hand contact on the top or side of the ball is legal
  • A quick low crossover is not automatically a carry
  • A hesitation is legal when the ball does not come to rest
  • Carrying occurs when the ball rests, is clearly supported from underneath, is lifted/paused, or control is regained before an illegal second dribble
Regular Season

40 Games • 22-Week Staggered Season

The schedule is designed to create conference identity while maintaining meaningful cross-conference competition.

When a franchise doubleheader includes both LCBA teams, the women’s game is played first and the men’s game follows.
